There’s nothing wrong with playing older games. A good one will always hold up over time. Recently, I decided to grab the full Hitman collection on Steam and work my way through it on PC.
Back in the day, I actually missed the original. My first experience with the series was Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. Strangely enough, I played it on the GameCube. So when the entire series bundle went on sale, I jumped at the chance to finally see where it all started.
So far, I haven’t been disappointed. After spending around 12 to 15 hours in each title, I’ve made my way up to the fifth entry, Absolution. It’s often labeled the “black sheep” of the franchise, but honestly? I don’t think it’s all that bad.
If anything, I’d say the weakest link is the very first game. In hindsight, I don’t feel like I missed much by skipping it originally. Especially since Hitman: Contracts (the third game) essentially reimagines many of its levels in a much more polished form.
